Statement on the record / GP-O01

“I have a gut feeling something is wrong.”

Gut Powered began with a former boss who would arrive with a confident instinct that something was wrong, often before the supporting evidence had arrived.

The phrase arrived often and with impressive confidence. Sometimes the instinct was right. Sometimes it was wrong. The certainty was the memorable part.

Gut Powered started as a workplace joke about the gap between how technical teams aspire to decide and how decisions frequently happen in practice.

A gut feeling can be a useful hypothesis. It is not proof. The Bureau celebrates confidence while keeping the receipts nearby.
